Safeguarding Statement

Clare Connolly Weight Loss Clinic — Last reviewed: March 2026

Our Commitment

Clare Connolly Weight Loss Clinic is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all patients, including adults at risk of harm. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and we are dedicated to creating a safe environment where patients feel respected, heard, and protected.

Our clinic operates in accordance with the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Human Rights Act 1998, and all relevant NHS England and CQC safeguarding frameworks and guidance.

Scope

This statement applies to all patients receiving services from Clare Connolly Weight Loss Clinic, including those accessing our online consultation and prescribing service. It also applies to all staff, contractors, and third parties engaged by the clinic.

Principles

We uphold the following safeguarding principles in all aspects of our service delivery:

  • Empowerment — patients are supported to make their own decisions and give informed consent.

  • Prevention — we take proactive steps to prevent harm before it occurs.

  • Proportionality — we respond proportionately to the level of risk presented.

  • Protection — we support those who are least able to protect themselves.

  • Partnership — we work with other agencies and professionals to safeguard patients effectively.

  • Accountability — we are transparent about our safeguarding responsibilities and actions.

Responsibilities

The Registered Manager (Clare Connolly, NMC-registered Nurse Consultant) is the designated Safeguarding Lead for the clinic. All clinical staff are trained in safeguarding adults to a level appropriate to their role, in line with the Intercollegiate Document for Adult Safeguarding.

Any member of staff who has a concern about a patient's safety or welfare must report this to the Safeguarding Lead immediately. Concerns are documented, risk-assessed, and escalated to the relevant statutory authority (e.g., Local Authority Adult Social Care, police) where appropriate.
