Medical Disclaimer

Version 1.1 — Last updated: 13 March 2026

Important: This disclaimer contains important information about the nature of our service and the medications used. Please read it carefully before enrolling in our programme.

1. Nature of Service

Clare Connolly Weight Loss Clinic provides a medically supervised weight management programme. Our service involves the assessment and, where clinically appropriate, prescribing of prescription-only medicines (POM) by a qualified independent prescriber registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

2. Prescription-Only Medicines

The injectable medicines used in this programme are prescription-only medicines regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). They are available only on prescription following a clinical assessment. These medicines work by mimicking naturally occurring hormones to regulate appetite and blood sugar levels.

These medicines are prescribed for weight management in adults with obesity (BMI ≥ 30) or overweight (BMI ≥ 27) with at least one weight-related health condition, in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

3. Individual Results

Weight loss results vary significantly between individuals and depend on many factors including adherence to the programme, diet, exercise, individual physiology, and other health conditions. No specific weight loss outcome can be guaranteed. Any results mentioned on our website or in testimonials represent individual experiences and are not typical results.

4. Potential Side Effects

As with all medicines, these treatments may cause side effects. Common side effects include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or constipation
  • Decreased appetite
  • Injection site reactions
  • Headache or fatigue

Less common but serious side effects may include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, and kidney issues. You will receive a full list of potential side effects with your prescription. Contact us or seek emergency medical attention if you experience severe symptoms.

5. Contraindications

These medicines are not suitable for individuals who:

  • Have or have had pancreatitis
  • Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
  • Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
  • Are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • Have severe gastrointestinal disease
  • Have Type 1 diabetes

Our programme is not a substitute for advice from your GP or other healthcare professionals. We recommend informing your GP that you are undertaking this programme. If you experience any health concerns, you should seek advice from your GP or contact 111 for urgent medical advice.
